At Least One Killed In A Plane Crash In Pakistan

A Pakistan passenger plane with over 150 people aboard crashed Wednesday on a hillside near the capital, Islamabad, a spokesman for the office of aviation.

An official said that so far have recovered a body.

The aircraft belonging to private airline Airblue lost contact with the control tower Islamabad International Airport at 4:43 GMT, when flying from the city of Karachi in the south of the country.

"There were 146 passengers and six crew on board. We are gathering information. We have no details," he told Reuters Mubarik Shah, spokesman for the Civil Aviation Authority operated by the state.

A thick cloud of smoke rose over the Margalla Hills near Islamabad, and a helicopter flew over the place in a persistent rain.

"It was raining. I saw the plane flying low through the window of my office," said Khadim Hussain, witnessed the event.

The cause was not yet known.
